Luxx Beauty & Barber Institute considers both class time and clinic floor experience extremely important. Because of the location of the school and the upscale environment, students receive a great deal of hands-on experience working with actual clients in all aspects of the cosmetology field.

Beyond the chair, we aim to make a deep impact on our students' lives by providing them with real-world experience and inspiring them to be the best they can be. The beauty and barbering are up close and personal, and it's important that we instill integrity and discretion. We want our students and customers to leave Luxx feeling confident, inspired, and better than when they came in.

Cosmetology Course Course length: 1500 hours
Cosmetology Course Description

The Cosmetology/Manicuring course is designed to train all students in the principles and practices of the profession of cosmetology. Upon successful completion of the course, each student will be properly prepared and trained to complete the State Board of Cosmetology examination.

Cosmetology Course Objectives

  • To educate and train students in the principles and practices of the profession of Cosmetology in order that they can successfully complete the examination by the State Board of Cosmetology and obtain their Cosmetology license.
  • To develop habits of good workmanship and orderly performance of various tasks in the Cosmetology profession.
  • To develop habits of correct performance of Cosmetology in the interest of safety and hygiene for oneself and for others.
  • To learn to properly select, care for and use the commercial products that are related to the application of beauty treatment.
  • To impart ideals and attitudes of willingness to cooperate between employers and employees and the practice of the highest standards of professional and personal ethics.
  • To educate students in the fundamentals of business operations as they relate to the successful operations of general business practices in the field of Cosmetology.
  • To assess the effectiveness of education course completion, licensure, and employment rates.

BARBER COURSE Course length: 1000 hours
Barber Course Description

The Barber course is designed to train all students in the principles and practices of the profession of barbering. Upon successful completion of the course, each student will be properly prepared and trained to complete the State Board of Barber examination. Missouri barber schools provide a minimum of one thousand (1,000) hours of training over a period of not less than seven (7) months.

Barbering Course Objectives

  • To educate and train students in the principles and practices of the profession of Barbering in order that they can successfully complete the examination by the State Board of Cosmetology and obtain their Cosmetology license.
  • To develop habits of good workmanship and orderly performance of various tasks in the Barbering profession.
  • To develop habits of correct performance of Barbering in the interest of safety and hygiene for oneself and for others.
  • To learn to properly select, care for and use the commercial products that are related to the application of beauty treatment.

Cosmetology Crossover Course length: 45 hours
Cosmetology Crossover Course Description

The cosmetology crossover course to become a barber is designed to train all students in the principles and practices of the profession of barbering. Upon successful completion of the course, each student will be properly prepared and trained to complete the State Board of Barber examination. Although the student has already passed the examinations to obtain his/her Cosmetology license, he/she must take the practical exam to obtain their crossover license for Barbering. However, the student is only required to take the shaving portion of the practical exam.
